Bondora recruits for expansion lawyer as it eyes new markets
Bondora is on a recruitment drive to fill 13 roles, including an expansion lawyer, having previously hinted at plans to enter new markets.
The European peer-to-peer lending platform added a fourth origination market when it launched in the Netherlands in September, joining Estonia, Spain and Finland.
The company originated more than €200,000 (£171,337) in the Netherlands in its first week after launching. It said that the Netherlands was the start of its ambitious growth plans and told investors to “stay tuned for more loan markets launching soon”.
Bondora has previously hinted at an EU-wide expansion, and has been hiring country managers in anticipation of this growth.
The expansion lawyer role is remote working and the candidate will need to deal with key legal and regulatory issues affecting the business, including jurisdiction-specific corporate matters, and licensing and regulatory matters across the EEA and globally.
The successful candidate will need to liaise with external counsel in relevant jurisdictions to identify and resolve jurisdiction-specific legal issues, Bondora said. They will also build solutions for structuring markets and new products, and apply to governance framework and client service documentation.
The Estonia-headquartered firm said it is looking for someone with a master of laws degree from an EU university, five or more years of experience at a law firm, experience in financial services and familiarity with fintech.
The role offers “the opportunity to experience the excitement and challenges of a fast-growing fintech company” and “market-leading pay”, according to the job specification.
Bondora recently reported a bumper October, with an increase in investments across the board.
More than €14.8m was invested in the platform’s accounts in October – a 21.3 per cent increase on September’s investment volumes.
