Funding Circle names new head of comms
Former peer-to-peer lending platform Funding Circle has named Abigail Whittaker as its new director of communications.
Whittaker (pictured, with Funding Circle mascot Fundy) was previously head of external communications at Metro Bank. Prior to that she ran the chief executive’s office at TSB and was a management consultant at Deloitte.
In her new role at the business lending platform, Whittaker will be responsible for communications across its core audiences including media, government, borrowers and Funding Circle employees.

“It’s a really exciting time to lead the communications team at Funding Circle as we gear up for our biggest chapter yet,” Whittaker said.
“I’m joining a fantastic team that is focused on advancing our position as the best place for small businesses to access funding in the UK, and I can’t wait to get cracking.”

Whittaker has also been named an ambassador for Funding Circle’s parenting group Parents @FC, having recently become a parent for the first time.
“Funding Circle is in the strongest position it has ever been and our medium term plan is now focused on empowering small businesses to not only borrow, but pay and spend as well,” said Alexander Allen, UK managing director at Funding Circle.
“So it’s a great time to bring new expertise into the team, and I’m really looking forward to working with Abi.”
