BNI Europa boss departs for Duff & Phelps
BNI Europa chief executive and chair Pedro Pinto Coelho is believed to have left the challenger bank.
His LinkedIn profile shows he has joined business and regulatory consultancy Duff & Phelps as a senior adviser.
Pinto is still listed as chair of BNI Europa on the company’s website but there is no mention of this on his LinkedIn profile.
Duff & Phelps and BNI Europa have been asked for comment.
The bank, which was launched in September 2015, has grown by acquiring a portfolio of credit assets in marketplace lenders across Europe. It has also launched its own range of niche products, such as a digital consumer credit platform that enables clients to get cash in less than 24 hours.
BNI Europa is a regular investor in the peer-to-peer lending sector.
It has backed lenders across Europe including Funding Circle in Germany and Raize in Portugal as well as UK invoice finance platform MarketFinance.
The bank has also invested in US consumer loans originated on platforms such as Lending Club and Prosper through a third-party fund.
Speaking to Peer2Peer Finance News in 2018, he said P2P lending in continental Europe was evolving.
““There is a market for P2P players to grow because there are segments of the population that are not serviced by banks,” he said.
