LendIt conference ends with a win for LendingWell and a new fintech partnership
LENDINGWELL has been announced the winner of PitchIt @ LendIt, as the conference hosts announce a new global partnership with Hong Kong’s AMTD Group.
UK peer-to-peer lending aggregator platform LendingWell beat off strong competition to win the top price at the inaugural PitchIt competition, which aims to find the future star of the fintech space. The firm will now be mentored by experts associated with Capital One Growth Labs which will put together a personal plan for the company’s development.
Meanwhile, LendIt hinted at a global expansion through a new strategic partnership agreement with AMTD Group. AMTD is one of Hong Kong’s leading non-bank financial services groups, with a reach spanning across Asia. The AMTD-LendIt Joint Global Office will become “a premier conduit for optimal and seamless exchange between Asian/global capital and the leading global internet/Fintech universe,” the conference organisers said.
“In recent years, as the global internet and fintech industries rapidly develop with increasing sophistication, this space has become one of the most important focus of the capital markets and the most sought-after investment arena by a broad spectrum of investors globally,” said LendIt.
“Against this backdrop, and as a result of the deepening cross-border, cross-regional and cross-sectoral linkage of capital and technology, the global fintech industry would benefit from a pioneering platform with global strategic vision, top local capability and insights with in-depth industry resources.”
The announcement about the joint venture and the winner of PitchIt came on the last day of LendIt Europe, the largest conference for the industry, which was held at The Intercontinental – O2 in London.
