Previously, Michael was chief executive at Oakbrook Finance, chief marketing officer and chief operating officer in a 14-year career at Capital One UK, and also a manager at Schroders.
He is also currently a credit adviser at embedded finance platform Liberis, according to his LinkedIn page.
A MarketFinance spokesperson declined to comment on the new appointment but said it is part of a bigger story that is set to be announced next week.
MarketFinance has seen a number of board changes this year.
In October, co-founder Ilya Kondrashov stepped down from the board.
And earlier this year, Zopa co-founder Giles Andrews stepped down as chairman of MarketFinance after more than five years in the role. At the time, chief executive Anil Stocker told Peer2Peer Finance News that more board changes were on the horizon.
MarketFinance’s board of advisers includes Baroness Susan Kramer, the Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords; and Shalini Khemka, chief executive and director of E2Exchange.
